The pieces are inspired by photographs from Claudia Fahlbusch and by my longing for rest and finding a spot where I can just be. There is this small Canarian island where life is slow and calm and nature is breathtaking beautiful and original. In this collection the island becomes a symbol for mindfulness and the connection with nature as a healing source. An escape from my inner struggle and our fast-paced world. The resulting pieces of jewelry are inspired by the culture and nature of this place and are partly made from materials that I collected on the island. Every four years The Bajada de la Virgen de los Reyes takes place on the island. The locals carry a Madonna from place to place across the entire island and celebrate their patron saint and their togetherness. “Siete son uno. Uno son siete. The pine trees that burn in forest fires often survive and regenerate their bark. Beautiful patterns are formed. The indigenous people of the island fed a lot on the lapas mussels. They made jewellery from their shells.

The Island is of vulcanic origin. There was an eruption under sea level a few years ago and all fish disappeared. But afterwards life came back in full bloom.
